Walter De Maria New York Earth Room Poster
£40.00
"Any good work of art should have at least ten meanings." — Walter De Maria, 1935 - 2013
We love this 1980s poster of De Maria's seminal New York Earth Room, an interior earth sculpture. De Maria was a legendary figure in of NYC's experimental scene of the 50s and 60s. He created the Earth Room from the following ingredients:
250 cubic yards of earth (197 cubic metres)
3,600 square feet of floor space (335 square metres)
22 inch depth of material (56 centimetres)
Total weight of sculpture: 280,000 lbs. (127,300 kilos)
The installation lives at Dia in New York. It is never changing and always changing. Should you be in the big apple, do go and visit the various sites of the Dia Art Foundation where the challenging, whole-hearted conceptual art will knock your socks off.
Approximate dimensions: 24 x 36 inches / 61 cm x 91.5cm
This full-colour offset poster was created by the Dia Art Foundation to celebrate the public opening of Walter De Maria’s The New York Earth Room on January 1, 1980. The posters we have are reprints from 2008. Please hang away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. We send out posters rolled in tubes.
